Woodford Primary School has been celebrating the Lunar New Year!
The Lunar New Year presented a great opportunity for pupils to learn about different cultures around the world and how they celebrate the passing of the New Year.
In Pre-School, the children learned about The Great Race.
According to myths, the Great Race created a time measurement for the people and was the way the 12 Chinese zodiac animals were selected.
Pupils also held their very own dragon parade!
They made dragons to dance with and played music as they paraded around the playground.
In Reception, pupils enjoyed crafting decorations and finding out about New Year traditions across the globe.
They made paper lanterns and their own traditional Chinese New Year red envelopes.
All of us at WPS thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Lunar New Year through these fun activities.
Happy Year of the Rabbit!
