Welcome to Summer Term in Reception

The Reception year is a very special part of your child’s school journey. Having got to know your child, we are excited to continue this journey in a term full of exploration, learning and development.  

We strive to provide a unique, challenging and inspirational curriculum based on new and memorable experiences.    

During the year we will work with your child to learn and understand their individual needs and support them in their learning and development.  

Our aim is for you children to become happy and confident learners and to carry their love of learning throughout their life.   

Summer Bookshelf

Our curriculum will be inspired by our Summer bookshelf, filled with high quality, engaging texts.  

These inspirational and carefully selected texts will spark our curiosity and imagination, and explore our six Character Traits:

We also have a Supporting Bookshelf which recommends high-quality texts to support your child’s learning at home.

Important Information

  • PE will take place every Tuesday, please send your child into school wearing their PE kit.
  • Forest School will run for the first half of the summer term each Tuesday. Please ensure your child has a pair of wellington boots, a waterproof coat and a pair of waterproof trousers in school.
  • Your child’s book bag, containing their reading books and reading log, should be bought to school each day and will be taken out on Thursday and replaced on Friday.
  • We would encourage you to read with your child every day to develop their love for reading.
  • Mrs Whitehead will be available every day before and after school to answer any questions, receive messages and celebrate successes.
