Year 3

Welcome to Autumn Term in Year 3

Welcome to Year 3. We are very excited for a fun-filled year of learning in our new classroom. We will continue to strive to make your child’s experience in education special, continuing to develop their relationship with their teacher and other learning support assistants, who will support them and ensure that their emotional and academic needs are met daily. Our aim is for your children to become confident learners and to carry their love of learning throughout their lives.

Autumn Bookshelf

During Autumn term in Year 3, we will read a variety of inspirational and carefully selected texts that explore the character traits of kindness, citizenship, integrity, curiosity, bravery and gratitude. We will begin with ‘The Great Paper Caper’ which provides a brilliant opportunity to discuss integrity, citizenship and curiosity. Throughout the rest of the term, we will link our History learning with ‘Stone Age Boy’ and discuss the kindness and gratitude of Cindy-Lou and debate the integrity of the Grinch through a balanced argument. ‘The Wild Robot’ will help us consider the discrimination and the right to food, clothing and a safe home. During National Poetry Week we will create our own emotions poem inspired by ‘Say how you feel’ by Joseph Coelho!
